Publishing and custom domains

Publishing puts the current version of your site on the internet at a Woxelo address. That address works immediately and permanently — connecting your own domain is an optional second step you can take at any point.

Publishing

Publish from the builder. Everything you have saved goes live at once; anything you have not published stays private. Republish whenever you want the live site to catch up with your edits.

Connecting a custom domain

Custom domains are handled in Custom Domain in the sidebar. Woxelo runs the DNS for the domain, which is why the first step happens at your registrar rather than here.

   Point the domain at Woxelo

   At your registrar — GoDaddy, Namecheap, whoever you bought the domain from — edit the DNS settings and change the nameservers to the two below.

   Wait for DNS to propagate

   Usually minutes, occasionally up to 48 hours. Nothing on the Woxelo side is waiting on you during this.

   Connect it

   Back in Custom Domain, select the project, enter the domain and choose Connect Domain. Woxelo detects it, links it to the project and installs an SSL certificate automatically.

If the domain does not connect

• Check the nameservers actually saved at the registrar — some control panels need the change confirmed twice.
• Give it longer. Propagation is genuinely slow sometimes, and nothing is wrong until 48 hours have passed.
• Make sure the domain is not still pointed at another host by an old set of records.
• Still stuck after that? Contact support with the domain name — that is a real person, not a form.
