Converting a website into an app

Wrapping a site that is already live in a native app.

The App Converter takes the URL of a site that is already on the internet and produces a native app around it. Nothing is regenerated — the app shows your site, with an icon, a splash screen and native chrome around it.

What you need

  • A website that is publicly reachable. A Woxelo site you have published qualifies; one you have only built does not.
  • A platform choice — Android or iOS.
  • A site that already works on a phone. The converter shows your site as it is; it cannot fix a layout that breaks on a small screen.

Converting

  1. 1

Choose App Converter on the dashboard

The prompt box becomes a URL field.

  2. 2

    Enter the address

With or without https:// — both are accepted, and the address is normalised for you.

  3. 3

    Pick the platform and send

Woxelo creates the app project and opens its chat, where you set the icon, name, splash screen and colours.

Stores review wrappers carefully

Apple in particular rejects apps that are only a website in a shell and add nothing to it. If the app is going to the App Store, give it something of its own — push notifications, offline handling, a native feature — before submitting.
